Evelyn Resh Presents: Contraceptive Options

FREE WEBINAR

Friday, January 23rd, 2026 | 12pm – 1 pm

Presenter: Evelyn Resh, CNM, MPH, CSC-S, MSN

Access to contraceptive methods and reproductive health care is in serious jeopardy across the United States. This is occurring at a time when fewer women and couples of reproductive ages are choosing to have children, which further increases the demand for methods that can prevent pregnancy effectively. Additionally, some hormonal contraceptives that are prescribed for medical conditions have a secondary effect of pregnancy prevention. The possible sexual side effects of these methods can be significant and often are overlooked or misunderstood by behavioral health providers as well as patients. This can result in diagnostic errors attributing sexual problems to relational conflicts instead of a possible or probable side effect of a birth control method.

This webinar will provide participants with basic information on hormonal and non-hormonal contraceptive options – how they work to prevent pregnancy and their potential impact on sexual interest and health.

At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the impact of hormonal birth control on the menstrual cycle
  • Describe the concept of contraceptive conflict and its impact on libido
  • Inform patients about sterilization as an option for men and women who definitively decline pregnancy
  • Describe the fertility awareness method and its effectiveness for pregnancy prevention
  • Name the types of hormonal birth control currently available in the US
  • Describe the term LARC as it refers to contraceptive methods

The webinar is open to therapists, educators, the general public, and anyone who wants to learn more about contraceptive options.

Participants may ask questions via chat during the webinar. Resh will answer these throughout the presentation.
