We Are Still Open and Here to Help You —
Telehealth Services are Available

At The Center for Relationship and Sexual Health and Joe Kort and Associates, our team is committed to providing you uninterrupted care, support and services during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

We will remain open to see you. We are not canceling appointments and we are accepting new clients.

First and foremost, our priority is your health. To ensure you stay safe, secure and protected, we are offering clients telehealth appointments (telephone or webcam) as a more effective option.

Our therapists are using a HIPAA-compliant and secure teletherapy program so you can continue your regular sessions. We will help you set up the right telehealth platform for you. Your privacy and comfort are important; we assure you the telehealth platform we are using is HIPPA-secure.

If you are exhibiting any of the symptoms of COVID-19 – fever, cough, runny nose or shortness of breath – we ask that you call our office before arriving for your scheduled appointment. At that time, we will determine if a telehealth appointment may be the best alternative for you.

We encourage you NOT to cancel your appointment.

As mental health therapists, we know that in times of crisis, already existing issues can feel magnified and more pronounced. We want to help you through these times to avoid worsening issues or feelings. Keeping your appointments – in person or through telehealth – is especially important now.

Please remember, we still want to practice “physical distancing,” but we also need to remain social. I prefer using the term “physical distancing” because it more precisely describes the action we should be taking to stay safe and healthy. We need to stay connected socially to maintain our mental health. We can do this through many ways: social media, telephone, webcam. Community building and emotional connection is important, especially now when so many of us physically are isolated.

I just recorded a Smart Sex Smart Love COVID-19 podcast, where a medical expert and I shared our views on coronavirus anxiety and non-panic ways to respond to this pandemic. We talked about physical distancing, not social distancing, to keep your mental health in check right now.

To relieve your concerns regarding in person visits, The Center for Relationship and Sexual Health is taking additional precautionary measures for your protection as well as our staff.

We are following the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as the local health department to ensure our facility is properly disinfected. We are taking added steps to disinfect and clean the facility from top to bottom – including countertops, door handles, light switches and many other frequently touched areas. You will find hand sanitizers in every room and waiting area.

Our staff also are taking extra precautionary measures by washing their hands more frequently and maintaining physical distancing by limiting the number of people in our waiting room as well as their wait time. Members of our staff who are ill or exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19 will not see clients in person.

Please stay safe, and remember, we are here to continue offering support, services and resources. If you have any questions, call our office at 248.399.7447.

Warmly,

Dr. Joe Kort, Ph.D., LMSW
